The Penthouse Apartment is a radio play by Michael Bakewell based on the short story by William Trevor. It was first broadcast on BBC Radio on 28 July 1998[1][2]. The story was previously adapted for radio by Trevor himself, in the 1968 BBC version.


A shy spinster leads a quiet life - until she is invited to visit the opulent home of her neighbours.
