A monologue exploring the mind and motives of the young Czech student, Jan Palach, who set fire to himself in the centre of Prague in January 1969 in protest at the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968 which ended the reformist 'Prague Spring'. The communist dictatorship, first imposed by the occupying Red Army after World War Two, was finally overthrown by the Velvet Revloution in 1989.
